I'm a Mac user, I also encountered the problem of "DiBS is damaged and can't be opened." when I opened the game for the first time, and after performing the steps mentioned in the Readme file, I found that it didn't work.
Then I searched the web and found a workable solution.
First, right-click on the DiBS application and select "Show Package Contents".
After that, expand "Contents" - "MacOS", and find the DiBS files in the corresponding folder. For example, as shown in the screenshot.
And then, search for "Terminal" app in Launchpad. Type into terminal:chmod +x (Note that +x is preceded and followed by a space).
Click and drag this file into the terminal. Press Enter.
In this case, the file of unknown type in the access is now a Unix executable, and the icon is now normal. Reopen the DiBS.app and you will find that the downloaded program works and executes properly!
hey ! had a little question about the terminal part, i don't really get what we're supposed to type into terminal ? does the terminal file you show on the screenshot appear after typing the "terminal:chmod +x " ?
Thanks for this! I installed my copy of DiBS for the Mac using the itch.io app, which seems to get the permissions right. Took me a while to find, and I almost considered this route, but the very next message in the thread I was checking out mentioned that the itch.io app gets it right, so i just did that. It's great to see people share solutions to problems like this! Thanks for digging into the issue! You're awesome!
I am BLOWN AWAY, everything about this game is just perfect! I love how the shadows mess with you in the early areas, and how the flashlight interacts with the enemies, no to mention the combat, I cannot stress this enough, it's superb!
in order for the game to work well on a mobile phone, you need to at least adapt the gameplay for a mobile game, taking into account the current mechanics and so on (especially from an indie developer), it’s not easy.
Sometimes when being caught in any plant minigame, I noticed that a blue heart would pop up on the stamina bar and it would increase rather than decrease. Is it a random occurrence and does it do anything besides that?
so i had some suggestions that i'd like to list off
1: add a melee weapon to the game just incase you run out of ammo 2: maybe add character customization 3: different enemy animations for when you get caught 4: some kind of gallery that lets you see the other animations 5: new weapons cause the pistol is getting a little boring to use
oh and also is there going to be a saving feature of any sort?
when running the mac app, a message appears saying the app is broken. I can unpack it and run the binary with the terminal and it works fine but most users don't know how to do that.
i mean this in the best way possible, the "checkpoint" room with Clair De Lune was far, far more atmospheric than i was expecting from a game of this nature. the way the music gracefully ceases when you exit the room was an especially nice touch.
Listen, i LOVE this game! for being my first game from my first PC setup, it was amazing! The atmosphere, the light mechanic, the escape mechanic was cool too and the way you start the game of docking in a station with a sense of looming dread-- it's amazing man! I would love to see more of DIPS.
The Kobold is on the far right side of the map near the theatre. You can feed him a snack for sex and a tape. The wolf can be found more towards the center of the map near the train station. Its after a very dark segment of the map. He is in the room where you get the snack for the Kobold.
You should not have to. Make sure you are on the latest version of the game because I could mot find him for a while until a friend of mine pointed out that I was on an older version of the game
as much as i like this game saving should be done asp it isn't that easy to get through all of monsters at times i run out of clips to kill monsters with and i can only carry 3 at a time in my very honest opinion get checkpoints and saves working or increase the damage and clip amount as of writing this it takes a lot of skill to beat and there some enemys that will tank shots despite being smaller then you in way most players who aren't skilled enough or have good aim usually can't get to end because they usually end up running low as fuck
Although I agree, saving should be implemented in some form. A lot of the fun is figuring out how enemies work and how to kill them. As well as more than adequate ammo placed everywhere on the map, the only reason you would run out is if your missing all your shots or using too many in the first place.
The enemies should not be respawning. If they truly are respawning, you might be encountering a glitch. if you are struggling with ammo and being able to kill enemies then I can only really offer you the following tip. Most of the enemies in the game don't require combat to handle. Some enemies can be skipped just by jumping over them. Others are not a threat if you toggle your flashlight on or off. If ammo is a problem, then slow down and be precise with your shots. You can outrun most foes meaning you can create plenty of time to spend aiming.
i wish i could do that but when getting caught most of them are randomized so i am basically rolling dice hopping i don't get on the requires me to get carple tunnel
The enemies in this game arent randomized either. They will be the same every time. And how do you get carpal tunnel by playing this? Most of the enemies you have to fight only take 3 or 4 shots to kill and usually you can only get 2 or 3 shots off before you need to create distance again
Weird to ask but in a room there is this music clair de lune but im seraching the exact version of it nowhere to be found in game file (is it encrypted in the game code ?) If you ask why, i love music that sound nostalgic or old like that so if anyone have the same music that is used in the game thank's
I found a bug where after 3 tries you wake up in a location where at the end there is an elevator and the abyss, and on this elevator, if you throw away the mag, the next time they will increase in amount
I don't know why. But there's a bug where I can't move in any direction for more than a step or two at a time. I have to press "D" like a hundred times before the first fall at the start.
If you have a controller plugged in it'll make your A & D keys not work correctly. Just had it happen to me. Unplugged controller re-launched works fine.
I've been wondering what the frisky mode is too, so far it just crashes my game. the smooth jazz hasn't changed anything yet, but doesn't crash, so I've assumed that it takes effect in certain areas or something
Lamo, in the large window area, you can escape the wolf's attack by hopping on the elevator and shooting him while riding it. then he vibrates there until he despawns from the room.

You have to click on the white circle, but I think it only appears when you're naked

It's a feature and random. Currently experimenting other gameplay uses for it.

Great suggestions! Sadly, there's not enough dev time to implement nearly all of those. There is a planned saving feature later on though!

There are around 6 plant creatures, with the koubold and wolf totaling 8.

Yeah, this has been a problem way early when it came to mac. No real solution at the moment.
Although, what could be done in the meantime is adding a readme tutorial file on how to get the game running.

Smooth jazz just plays the jazz music in the cinema and for woof. Fisky = no clothes.
When i press the frisky button, it cuts the game. can you check that one out?

i don't know it this a bug or not but sometime those plant can fuck you eventhough you still have your cloth on
I love it, animations are nice, it plays really smoothly and is the atmosphere is actually creepy. Very good job!

for some reason my microsoft defender says that its "unrecognized" or something and that it hurt my computer. anyone knows why it happens?
thats for anything on the site tbh just tell it to run it anyway. i use a windows as well and just ignore that for we can trust itch.io here
